RECENT OBITUARIES Walter P. Szymanski Sr. Walter P. Szymanski, Sr., 94, Lifelong Resident of Hillside, died on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark, N.J. Beloved Husband of 69 years to the Late Helen (Sitarz) Szymanski. Devoted Father of Paul and his Wife Sandra, Walter Jr. and Eileen and her Husband Jonathan Siegel. Dear Brother of Marie Ross. Loving Grandfather of Paul, Andrew, Peter and his Wife Mary Szymanski and Elizabeth Siegel and Great Grandfather of Kaden Szymanski. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 1, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7: 00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral from the Growney Funeral Home, 1070 North Broad Street, Hillside, N.J. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 9:00 AM. The Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 AM at Christ the King Church in Hillside, N.J. Interment following at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Mr. Szymanski was born on December 13, 1914 in Newark, N.J. to Kaziemir F. Szymanski and Helena (Szeuberka) Szymanski. He was the Maintenance Supervisor for Edgecomb Steel and Aluminum Company in Hillside, N.J. for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He also worked for Solar Steel, Baker Platinum, United Parcel Service and the Great Bear Company. His memberships included, Knights of Columbus, Rev. Thomas C. Canty Council # 3197since 1956, Hillside Safety Council, N.J. Civil Defense Corps, Fire Auxiliary, the Hillside Reserve Fire Department Auxiliary, the Teamsters Union, Local 478, Lads Club of Hillside, (the Founder and President), Participant in the Youth in Industry Day Program at the Hillside High School and the Kiwanis Club of Hillside, receiving the Certificate of Appreciation for Fund Raising Drives
