Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff
Our basic services of funeral director and staff may include, but is not limited to:
- Responding to the initial request for service
- Conducting the arrangement conference
- Arranging and conducting funeral service
- Preparation and filing of papers, permits and
authorizations
- Coordination with those providing other
services
- Preparation and placement of obituary notices
- Retention and care of remains prior
commencement of post death activities
Embalming
(Including use of preparation room and sanitary care)
Except in certain special cases, embahning is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial. No human remain may remain unburied or uncremated in New Jerseyfor more than 48 hours unless embalmed or refrigerated. (N.J.A.C8:9-1.1)

Other Preparation of the Body
(Includes use ofpreparation room but excluding embalming)
- Dressing, casketing and cosmetizing
- Sanitary care, without embalming
- Refrigeration
- Restoration and other procedures
- Readjustment and repositioning
following transfer in
Sheltering of Remains

This charge will be applied only on
days when no post-death activities
occur, and the funeral home is in
possession of the remains.
