RECENT OBITUARIES Anthony 'Tony" J. Donnelly Hillside firefighter, 79 Anthony 'Tony' J. Donnelly, 79, of Hillside, N.J. passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at St. Clare’s in Denville, N.J. Mr. Donnelly was born in Newark, N.J. on September 12, 1932 and lived in Hillside for most of his life. He was a Navy veteran that proudly served during the Korean War. Tony went on to be a Hillside fireman for 37 years, and retired in 1993. He was a longtime member of the American legion. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. He was well-respected and loved by many. His distinct sense of humor (dry wit) was ever-present. He will truly be missed and never forgotten by all who knew him. Mr. Donnelly was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Marge) Donnelly; devoted father of Michael, Patricia, Kathleen, Karen and James Donnelly and Debra Johnson. Dear brother of Francis and the late Robert, Thomas, William, Rose and Betty; loving grandfather of Michele, Melissa, Jennifer, Nicole, Brittany, Daniel and John and loving great-grandfather of Jade, Joshua, Alexa, Kailyn, Brianna, Sophia, Vincent and Richard. They will all miss him dearly. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Growney Funeral Home, 1070 North Broad Street, Hillside, N.J. In lieu of flowers a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
